This section, Mythology and Folklore, is actuly under the Society and Culture tab, right along with the Religion and Spirituality section. The only true difference between the two is the Religion and Spirituality secion mainly focuses on current-day religions and beliefs, where as this secion mainly focuses on past-held beliefs and practices as well as Occult and fantasy subjects.

The two in my opinion are one and the same, but the Religion and Spirituality section is so busy that it is nice to have this section broken off so posts do not get lost in the flow as easily.

People are going to put religion here whether it belongs here or not. Further, if you look up the dictionary definition of myth one definition is something untrue but another is a traditional creation story. Since Jesus is taught as the fulfillment of Creation, He is definitely a myth in the second sense whether or not he is a myth in the first.

There are certainly questions about spirituality which get asked here. And there are questions which equate spirituality with myth in the sense of something untrue. But I think a key word here is part of the compound: Lore. Lore was how we used to transmit knowledge and our concerns. Spirituality has always been as vital a part of that as it is today.

On the other hand, one lesson from the Ancient Greeks we seem intent on forgetting is that the Civilized are interested in everything: only Barbarians believe there are categories of knowledge which must be kept distinct.

    Of course!

Ancient religions are called myths today ... present day religions is the mythology of the future.

no. religion is more or less the same as spirituality. having a religion means having faith, which is not the same thing as having religious stories, aka folktales

Since one can't prove jesus existed (other than through stories), and one can't prove fairies and unicorns exist, I'd say religion is mythology.

God can't be proven, and since you can't prove a negative, it's still a myth.
