is it okay for a 23 year old guy to date a 17 year old woman?

in ALL STATES: passed on jan 1, 2007 in all states 18 is consider as being an adult. if you date any person under 18, it is called statutory rape. if the parents do not agree with there teenager dating that person over 18yrs old, they can and will press charges. if the parents dont do anything abt it, the state can. the state can and will press charges agaisnt that person that is 18 or older. the teenager does not have consent from the parents to have sex. that is also the reason

why they made this into the law.

whats wrong with people dating there own age??? i dont understand how people think this is "ok"...we live in a crazy society. the law is right in front of your face and people just ignore it. i guess your not scared to go to jail. i guess you not scared to have this crime over your head for the rest of your life!!!

When I was 17 my boyfriend was 23. At the time I would have said it was fine, but now that I'm 25 I realize it's a little creepy. However, it is difficult to assess the situation because the maturity of the parties may be on a more equal level. BTW the 23 year old I dated, I ended up marrying four years ago.

Ok i understand were shes coming from because alot of times girls dont date younger guys its usally the other way around, she may just be afraid of what people will think like she cant get someone her own age or even some the legal age but at the same time i feel she shouldnt confuse you by holding youe hand and i think she thinks of this as a fun thing like going on dates and hanging out but not for a real relarionship

If it's ok with her parents. But consider the stuff that you cannot do until she is of legal age, like drinking, sex and all. If it's all clean and clear, just taking her out for a date and bringing her home on time, it's fine. It's up to her parents if they're cool with it, if not, you'll have to wait another year or two.

Of course ! as long as the 23 isn't just using the 17 year old for sex or other reasons . Age isn't a big deal as long as your not a majour sicko or asshole !

my first serious relationship was when i was 14 and he was 7 years old then me. to be honest...depending on the people, you can have an amazing relationship. to date that was my longest relationship (a year and a half) and the greatest friend i could ever ask for. dont listen to what others have to think if this person means something to you cuz thats how i got through it. despite the initial disapproval.. once people saw we cared about eachother they eventually understood!

The age difference is not that much and is not the problem. You must check your state laws on the underage situation.

depends on if you are having sex and that is really only an issue depending on the state you guys live in
