Sick of news and child/baby/pregnant mother killers?

I'm just sick with the news lately. It's almost as though they get kicks from reporting about these sickos. Everytime I read the news or watch the news someone has killed a child/infant/or pregnant mom. The man who threw his four young babies from the bridge in Louisiana, the babysitter who swung the 18 mos. old, hit a wall, cracked his skull and killed him, the marine who killed his pregnant accuser, even the state I live in, Ohio, some man killed his wife and four kids this weekend. It's hard enough having an infant, the constant worry for their safety, worrying about SIDS, leaving them at daycare. It's just too painful to read these stories, I can't imagine continuing with my life if something like this happened to my son. Anyone else sick of turning on the news?

I am as well. I am scared to death for my sons safety. We will NOT use child care other then grandparents and agreed that if the grandparents could not/ or did not want to do it any more then one of us would find a different job so there is always a family member with our son. I can't possibly imagine what is going through these peoples heads. Every time I hear of yet another innocent child passing away it brings me to tears. If some one EVER hurt my son, may God help them.

But you are right, everyday you hear of another child senslessly killed by some half wit. It really does break your heart. I remember the one over the summer that just really tugged at my heart strings, there was a preganet lady who lived in Ohio and her boyfriend, who mind you was also a cop, killed her and buried her body, with a son they had toghether in the house and then LEFT him there by himself, the child was very young, 2 or 3 maybe, and saw his mother die. How horrible.

But on the same note of children dieing, I am tired of hearing about the drunk drivers, and the ones who take the lives of other innocent people, and I am not talking just about the celebrities. Down here in Toledo, there was a family who was driving on the I 280 highway, when a man, who was twice the legal limit, got onto the highway the wrong way, hitting a van head on. He killed the mother, a 6 month old baby, and 3 other children. Two of the children and the father lived but were in the hospital, the little girl was in critical condition for a long time. And when they showed him on tv to go to court for his crime, he was walking. He kills 5 people and he walks on his own two feet into court.

The just a week later then that, 2 girls were drinking and driving and again got on ANOTHER highway in Toledo, the wrong way, causing a bad accident, fortunatly noone was killed.

It is not like the entrance and exits arn't clearly marked, when your going the wrong way on the ramp it tells you right away. It is all happening too much!

To add a last, a guy here was just arrested for ANOTHER DUI. This is his 16th DUI and he is on probation-----again! Thank you for listening(reading)!

I am thourougly sick of the news. And the problem is what you said. It sells, so the media keeps putting it out there for us as if there is no other news. The problem is that this kind of stuff has been happening forever, but the internet, cell phone cameras, satellite communications, and all the other ways that these stories become big news are relatively new, so it's not that this stuff is new, it's just being reported on a much bigger scale. The world is now and has always been a violent place. Imagine if we had the capability to broadcast live real time images and video of events like WWI, WWII, the American Civil War, the holocaust, and other events like we do now? The realities have not changed, it's just that we are exposed to them on a scale unimagined even 100 years ago. You can thank modern technology for that.

Bad things happen. Its horrible. The only thing you can do is love and take care of your kids the best you can. Also watch out for other peoples kids and treat everyone with respect.

I dont listen to the news much anymore because since I became a mother every time someone is killed or hurt I cant stop thinking that person is someones baby. It kills me. I love her so much I cant stand all the badness in this world. Thats also why we live in a small town now. Yes crime can happen hear to but everyone knows us and our child. If she's doing something with the wrong person were sure to find out! lol.

I live in Ohio to, I have a friend that works at Children's hospital and sees all the shaken babies you hear about on TV she says it's horrible to have to be nice to people when you know they did it...

I had a problem after the little girl was raped and killed(in southeast columbus) because it could've been prevented especially in the small apartment they lived in, I couldn't figure out how it happened where it did.... Sick sick people... I don't watch the news much now anyway because my husband was in Iraq for over a year and it's just depressing.

I agree. that is why I don't watch the news. I look up current events online or read the newspaper... I can pick and choose from quick headlines what I do and don't want to read and not sit through an entire TV news story.

Often I just want to know who won a primary, or what the weather is going to be... I don't need the gory details of every death in town.

And I dont' think I'm sheltering myself either... I know what kind of world I live in, I know what is going on in the world and in my community. I just do not need to know the moment by moment playback of how each child was killed. That's what the TV news does, it's too much and I refuse to watch it.

I have a 4 month old son. I dont know if it is still my hormones, or what, but I feel the same way you do. Its sickening. Lately I dont even want to watch the news or read cnn online. And I have ALWAYS been a big news watcher. Every morning, every night, but with all this about little innocent children being killed, I dont even want to turn news on. Its so depressing.

Oh my gosh, it makes me want to cry! There was a Mom who threw her 18-month old out a 2 story window also in my area.. he didn't die but he is severely brain damaged now and was taken away from her. Regardless, she has damaged him for life and she should get life in prison!! I am sick of hearing about this too.. I don't even like to let my 4-month old son cry for 5 minutes because I feel so bad.. so thinking about these people makes me feel so sorry for those babies. :o(

We just can't think about it.. there are sicko's in the world and that is not going to change. We just have to do good for our own babies and feel good about what we are doing. Best Wishes!

  • Don't watch the news. I get updates on line through CNN. It gives me just the headlines and you don't have to read what you don't want to. I try not to give the news the ratings. Anything with paparazzi too. Of course they are not going to go off the air. But I just do it on principle. Also it seriously can't be good for your soul to suck in all bad all day. Think about it, what you feed yourself, you are right? So what you feed your brain is what your brain is? I just don't think that watching the news (it's always been bad, they just seem to dwell on it now) for however long each day (our local nightly news is 2 hours plus 30 min of national new) is really good for you. Watch something funny instead!

sure am.. but that's their job, to report what is going on in our community. How pissed would you be if your neighbor killed his 4 kids & you never knew? I'd be REAL mad.. especially since a lot of the time they end up getting out of prison. I'd prefer to know. I don't think they find it amusing or entertaining.. it's just exactly what it is NEWS.

Yes I do agree it's sick & I feel like people who kill a child should be killed.. but they'll get their butts kicked in prison by the other prisoners who have their own kids.

1st of all i agree with you, you have to worry about life events everyday without these lunatics killing their children or children they are responsible for and as far a the marine goes why wasn't she protected better oh it's our military nature to look the other way when a female is raped or maybe it was the 1st time and they did not know how to handle it the news is always bad anymore and it is on 24/7
