Illegal parking in supermarkets?

Did you see that Asda are going to charge about £60.00 for illegal use of disabled spots, and parent/child spots.

I was in Tesco today and saw some flash guy in a suit park his Range Rover sport in a disabled spot, get out still using his mobile that he was using when driving, and RUN into Tesco's.

Obviously not disabled, and I thought, "perhaps we should go one better than Asda", if people are SO keen to use disabled spots, so that their very large cars don't get scratched, perhaps we should chop a foot off, and make them disabled.

We could force people who use parent/children spots to adopt problem kids from orphanages as well - the more unruly the better.

Before anyone get overwrought - this is intended as a bit of humour.

Update:

Treu, Asda can't do it themselves, I think they sell the car park to a private firm, who are empowered to issue civil parking notices.

Asda will then take the money generated from the fines, and donate it to a disabled charity, or Tomy's childrens charity as appropriate - cracking idea I think

I am a taxi driver, and i am aloud to drop of in disabled bays when my passengers are disabled, anyway picked up a guy other day he had a disabled badge so dropped him of in the bay and he done a runner and i couldn't catch him, and i am fit wow he could go think there is something wrong with the system that gives out the badges?Ps it is really annoying when you do have a person in car that is disabled and a big 4x4 is parked up with no badge, bad people only thinking of there self's i say we should get some expanding foam the stuff that goes hard like concrete and squirt it up the exhaust pipe that would sort them or pay some nice kids to play football in that area annoying or what

Basically, I agree with you, I would never dream of parking in a disabled or mother and child place in the car park, and nirther would most people. What would wind me up are the snivelling parking S.S. officers.Surely Asda is ripping people off enough any way !

As an addition, it isn't illegal parking, Asda carparks are private land, Asda are very quick to say that the rule of law doesn't apply on their private land. If someone bumps your car, even if you have witnessed it, they deny all legal responsibility !

As a parent and a carer, I struggle to park at these supermarkets.

I think a good deterrent is definately needed!

I would never park in a disabled spot if I was on my own , and by the way I drive a range rover, ;o)

not all of us are the a** holes!!;o);oD

Don't get me started....I need a disabled parking space...Not that long ago I could run around and not give mobility a thought, but now sadly I can't, so to see someone able bodied in a space I need makes me see beyond red...there are few enough disabled spaces as it is....I agree with your humorous solution.....but if I had an axe with me.

Great idea, also how about photos of culprits and cars up on the supermarket wall? I am sure that might be a deterrent!

    Most car parks have CCTV.

    how about this one!

If someone is parked illegally in a disabled spot they should stab all four of their tires making their car disabled.

Bet you they would think twice before parking in a disabled spot again after having to buy four new tires

In this area of Canada, the fine for parking in an handicap spot is $5,000 and you'd think that would stop people - sadly, no.

    Oh yes!

It is only ever people who drive over long/large cars who ever park anywhere they shouldn't isn't it? NOT!

why do people get so uppity about this BIG car small car debate?

it is a matter of choice

there are equal amounts of good drivers and bad drivers in all sizes of cars.....

There's bound to be less of a jail sentence if you just key the paint. I'd make it the drivers side so they know it happened in the disabled spot. That will get the message across!
