Help with Excel - selective editing?

Hi - I am building a financial model in Excel 2000, and have managed to develop a very cool workbook.

As with a standard model, it requires a user to enter some specific data and variables. Once the data has been entered the model will run calculations and provide analysis.

What I want to do is lock all the cells from having data entered into them apart from the very specific ones that the user fills out.

Does anyone know of a way to lock sundry cells from being edited, or selecting specific cells that can be edited?

Thanks

You need to select all of the cells that you want a user to be able to change, and then go to Format --> Cells and then go to the Protection tab. Uncheck the box that says Locked. This will remove any protection from those cells.

Note that you can select all of those cells at once by holding down the Ctrl keys as you click on each one.

Finally, go to Tools --> Protection --> Protect Sheet. This will protect the worksheet from changes, except for the cells that you unlocked in the previous step.

Use this formula contained in the cellular the position you want your outcome. replace the range contained in the formula to examine your own form of information cells =AVERAGEIF(B1:B8,"<>0") this may do as you want.
