Like the first person said, the alterations kill you. One of my friends got married last summer and we went to look at them at 3 different David's Bridal stores and the ones that were on sale were all averagely the same size (small lol) and they weren't as pretty as the ones on tv. Actually one that they advertised on the commercial was there but $500. She did end up getting a dress there but the one she got was $620.

I bought my dress from Davids about this time last year, went in because of a $99 sale. The dresses in the sale weren't very nice- seemed old and out of fashion! I found my dress there and it was on sale for $299 which I didn't think was too bad. The alteration cost there is too high though, it would have been just as much as the dress! I took it to a seamstress who I found word of mouth, and as it turned out, she worked at another bridal shop in town, just did alterations on the side. Look for another place for alterations!
All in all, I was happy with Davids- they have so many sizes in a certain style that I didn't have to order a dress. My bridesmaid either!

I got mine for $99 after the big sale was almost over. There was only 5 dresses left in my size which was a 10. I really dont remember seeing many choices over a 12 in the sale section. Can't hurt to call the store and ask.

!YES- I am a 16 so they have all sizes.... big and small... I got a $500 gown there and the alternations were only $35.00! Buy a dress that fits your body nicely and is the correct size and you shouldn't have problems with the alternations.
Also they clean and press the dress for free.
The 99 dollars dress are not as fancy as the one you see on TV- they are plain and they had a lot of beach ones when I was in there.

Well, I got my dress there, but I am not having them alter it. I know a seamstress that will do the same $400 alteration for $120. You should just find someone else to alter it for you. Good luck! Plus, with the $$$ you saved from buying your dress at the $99 sale, you will have a little more for alterations.

It is, for sure. However, alterations and any "extras" obviously will be extra out of pocket. They have great dresses that fall into the $99 range, and that includes all sizes. I went during one of these sales, and ended up falling in love with a dress taht was more expensive, Due to the sale, they gave me $50 off of my dress.

I don't know about the $99 dresses, but as some other people said even if you get a steal on your dress, having it altered at the shop will probably bankrupt you, depending on what you need done.
I'd suggest looking online at dresses first. Some of their dresses are really NOT expensive. I got mine for $300 and it's gorgeous. While it's not exactly a cheap sum, it certainly beats $1000+ at other shops.

I'll be honest. When I went the 99 dollar dresses were crap. They were old, stained, ripped, and hideously out of style. Maybe that's changed but for a few hundred you can do better in the store.

Deffinitely take advantage of it--they have them in varying sizes, colors and styles and a really great selection, usually, of each.
But seriously, don't do your alterations there if you're gonna need 'em. They'll charge an arm and a leg. Maybe try a dry cleaner or seamstress that specializes in alterations.
Good Luck and happy shopping:)

i got my wedding gown at david's along with my bridesmaid dresses. my gown was not off the $99 rack, but because of the sale i got quite a bit off my gown. their dresses are really nice and i was able to pick out a bridesmaid dress that the girls could wear again if they wanted to. i would definitely check them out.
