I would like to know what they think about the religious restrictions on their life, clothes driving, etc. Do they faithfully support a religion that treats them as lessor citizens?

If you were to visit another country in Europe, or the US, would you continue to wear your hijab? Or would you dress more like women in the West do while you're there? Would you wear makeup, drive, etc? Do you want to be able to do that freely in your country, or do you feel content with things are as they are?

The main reason I ask is that a friend of mine from the middle east said that when he was flying out of Saudi Arabia, when they announced over the intercom that the airplane was out of Saudi territory, about half the women on the plane removed them... I thought that was interesting.

I'm curious, what do they think?

What do they see as their role in society?

Do they see Islamic culture as a restriction?

What if they want to work what's thought of as a man's job?

Is it possible for a woman (or for that matter a man) be socially, artistically and sexually liberated?

What do they see as the most positive aspects of living in Saudi Arabia?

Is there anything outside of Islamic culture that interests them?

    Have they ever read

"Princess: A True Story of Life Behind the Veil in Saudi Arabia"?

It was written by Jean P. Sasson but, dictated by a Saudi Princess.

If they have not known about it, I would like to know what books do they like to read?

Steve C. said it perfectly. Is it that they are too scared to speak out about the way they are treated? Are there any womens groups that exist that are trying to make a change for women?

They get stoned for being raped. They are punished because they were not in the presence family. If you leave your family then you apparently are responsible for the consequences. Some kind of justice system.

What they want out of life. Why they blindly accept oppression. Well I already know the answer to that. I would just like to know what they think.

i am Saudi woman i am 19 i will answer some of the questions her:

What they want out of life?

i want to marry a kind, nice, handsome, romantic guy and start a family, i want to have a job that i love doing, i want to go to heaven when i die, i want to be a good daughter, i want to travel to exotic places, i want to see other cultures.

    Why they blindly accept oppression?

    i don't, i am not oppressed :).

what they think about the religious restrictions on their life, clothes driving, etc. Do they faithfully support a religion that treats them as lessor citizens?

well i am okay with these religious restriction i want to follow them so i please god every one who follows a religion has restrictions it is up to the person to follow them or ignore them, as to driving it is not a religious thing it is only a cultural thing and i don't mind it as i have a driver, my religion is the only religion that gave me my full rights we are not treated the way you think!

what is their role to their husband and family?

as any women to her family just raise the kids and be faithful.

do they have a voice in the relationship?

it is not a relationship if we don't have a voice in it

the answer is yes of course.

what do they do for fun?

i like to go shopping, hang out with my friends, go to parties, watch movies, read, dance, and sadly eat :)

They get stoned for being raped.

not true you get stoned if you commit adultery whether you are a man or a woman which is why we don't have this problem that the west suffers from it is a friar punishment you take family lightly we don't .

They are punished because they were not in the presence family. If you leave your family then you apparently are responsible for the consequences. Some kind of justice system.

i don't understand what you mean by that?

Is it that they are too scared to speak out about the way they are treated? Are there any womens groups that exist that are trying to make a change for women?

no it is that we are normal people we are treated very good better than western women are treated.

you treat your women like they are objects of sex you have sex with them and leave them like they are nothing if i would explain how women are treated here i would say as a very rare diamond everyone around you is at your service if you ask for anything you get it men here have a lot of respect for women we are valued as women not treated like objects for men's pleasure.

    what do they think?

    about what?

What do they see as their role in society?

i see myself as an independent individual, i try to be a good part of society. women are mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, we are normal human beings.

Do they see Islamic culture as a restriction?

i think that any kind of freedom must have it's restriction, in Islam their are a lot of boundaries these boundaries is what keeps us from harming each other and being civil to one another.

What if they want to work what's thought of as a man's job?

it depends on that job women have the right to work if they want to but lets say if they want to become soldiers they are not allowed because protecting our country is a man's job women are too sensitive for these kind of jobs i have never met a women here that wanted a job that is a man's.

Is it possible for a woman (or for that matter a man) be socially, artistically and sexually liberated?

if you mean by socially that they can friends from the opposite sex then i can say NO and we don't want that look how good it did for you , artistically i don't know what you mean by that, sexually NO you can't have sex outside the marriage

What do they see as the most positive aspects of living in Saudi Arabia?

being respected and treated well, feeling safe all the time, having strong family ties... there are a lot of positive aspects.

Is there anything outside of Islamic culture that interests them?

i don't know, when you say Islamic culture it is like we live in a very different world. i feel that i live a very normal life like right now what interest me is losing these extra pounds :)

If you were to visit another country in Europe, or the US, would you continue to wear your hijab?

i did travel but didn't wear the hijab i thought of it as a time i sinned and i will ask Allah's forgiveness :( but i wouldn't do it for a long term because it is a sin.

Or would you dress more like women in the West do while you're there? Would you wear makeup, drive, etc?

I WEAR MAKEUP HERE AND UNDER HIJABWHAEN I REACH THE PLACE I AM GOING I REMOVE IT WHAT DO YOU THINK I AM WEARING? NORMAL CLOTHES JEANS.......etc if i lived in a western country i would drive .

Do you want to be able to do that freely in your country, or do you feel content with things are as they are?

    content :)

f they have not known about it, I would like to know what books do they like to read?

i have not read it, i never heard of it.

i like to read about healthy food like " you are what you eat" but mostly i like romantic novels.
