Segregation or assimilation?

Migrants entering into Australia come with big expectations. Australia welcomes them with an open arm and helps them settle in this country. Should migrants learn to assimilate into the life style and culture of this country or should they bring their own ideas and way of living from their former country demanding their rights in the name of democracy.

Your thoughts on this matter please.

well since I dont live in Australia I am not familar with this. But in the US we have an influx of Mexican immigrants that come here.

If they come to a new country they should learn the ways of that country. In my opinion, they should hold onto their culture, but remember that they are in a new land and need to heed to those laws.

If I went to Malaysia, I should not expect to live the way I am here in the states. I should adhere to their laws and customs and be respectful of them. I can stil be an American but I should not expect any special treatment.

And when an immigrant goes to a new country they should learn the language! So in short assimilate in a new country or go back to your old country! Dont expect everyone to change things just to cater to a group of people.
