Bartholomew Taliaferro, Sr.?
I am a descendant of Bartholomew Taliaferro, Sr., born about 1530, Veneto, Italy, died Sept. 21, 1601 in England. He is buried at the Saint Olaves Church at 8 Hart Street, London England. I have pictures of the outside of the church from the street that I found on the internet, but none of inside the churchyard. I do not know if there are even headstones in the church yard, but was wondering if someone in London could see about getting me one of his headstone, if there is one.
itsjustme: I would most appreciate it if you were able to call if it does not cost you anything. Since I am in the states, I can only imagine what an international call would cost me. Thanks so much.

Hello Violet, I have been having a look to see what I can find for you, but as yet I have been unable to find photographs of any headstones. I will however contact the church for you in the morning, I will see if they can tell me where I can get a photograph for you, or they may even find the headstone for you if there is one, photograph it and then email it to me.
In the meantime I found this information for you, or if you would prefer to contact them your self, here is the contact address.

It doesn't cost me anything for the phone call and I would be quite happy to help you if I can.
Hello Violet, I have contacted St Olaves on your behalf, it would appear that there isn't actually a headstone for Bartholomew Taliaferro, which would suggest that the London cemeteries are run in the same way that they are in my part of the country. This being that after a time period of 100yrs and one day has passed after the last burial in that plot, the headstone if there is one, is either mounted at the side of the cemetery, or it is returned to the descendants of the deceased for their own disposal. The other reason for there being no headstone is possibly it is what is known as a common grave, where the family were unable to pay for the funeral, so they were unable to mark the grave in any way.
The person I spoke to was very helpful and he did email me a copy of the transcripts for the name "Taliaferro" and variations for the years 1563- 1700, would you like me to post them for you, or if you would prefer to email me, I will email you the letter that I received from the church, this afternoon. Hope this information will be of help to you.
Here's the information for you from the church registers of
St Olave .
