No, i thing Fate is a cop out, and I don't believe in predestination, I do believe that God work in our lives for good, but His name is not Fate.

Hi Wick! Yes I have looked up fate and destiny and they are the same basically in the dictionary. I assume most faiths have something like this written...but that is only an assumption. I believe that we do have a fate or destiny that was ordained by God, before we were even made. A good life full of good things at God is good. But we also live in a fallen world with an evil one in control and we also have our own will with which we make decisions that may lead us down a path that will take us in a different direction that God had not intended. I do believe that God does Discipline his children which means( to teach), just as we good parents discipline our children. I do not believe that the terrible things that happen to good people are God's doing. With all this in mine I will point to The Bible, Psalms 139: 13-16 and for the ease of understanding I will quote the New International Version:

    13. For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am so fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

    Hope this was useful.

Yes I do . If it were not for fate ( and I belive God creates our fate ) I would not be sitting where I am sitting right now. I was headed in a totally different direction and no matter how much I'd go to take a left something pulled me right . I'd be writing a book w/ a full explanation but yes ...it has been fate.

I believe in fate to a degree. But looking back over life I can see oppurtunities which were intended to be our fate but we passed them by. Why were they passed by? We were too busy following our own lead instead of the lead of God - the author of fate.

No-I think-I believe in destiny being an accumulation of our actions and interactions with others moving us forward in life. If that makes any sense. Fate I have a hard time defining. But that is what makes your questions challenging.

Call it fate or destiny, I believe even tho we do have choices, the ones we make and the result of them is where we are suppose to be, and doing what we need to be doing at the time.

After living all these years through the good times and the bad I would have to say that fate had nothing to do with the road I traveled. Most of the pot holes of life that I experienced were because I was hoping that the pot hole would move while I went along on my merry way. So, in a nut shell, fate was not a factor in my life.

Yes, I think it does sometimes lead us to certain paths in life. I sometimes look through my diary from a few years ago, to see what was going on.....I see how things that seemed unrelated, somehow led me to go somewhere or look up a certain person, and then good things eventuated. Fate ? Who knows, but it does make you think that something is guiding us through the thickets of life !!

Oh my gosh yes! In that absolute order and design of the universe how can we not? "God does not play dice." Albert Einstein

I believe in destiny (the highest and greatest potential a person can reach, using all of one's gifts and talents; also the hardest) and fate (the lowest, easiest road that a person can take, never really finding their purpose etc...)

No. I do not believe that some of the horrible things that have happened to human beings was because it was their fate to experience these things.

Some things are inevitable, like being born & dying, but in between those two events I think we have the opportunity to freely make many choices. Most things are not "fated" to occur in our lives.
