How could the world live w/o the USA?

Scarey thing to think about I would have to say. You have to believe in what you are doing. I believe in the USA like all Americans should.

If there were no USA as it exists at the present, then it would still be a large colony of Great Britain and consequently the world power would possibly be split equally between the UK and Russia or the USSR as it could still well be.

Even that said, there could still be the distinct possibility that the former Eastern Bloc would not have existed since with Britains declaration of war against Nazi Germany in 1939 the American colonists, like the Canadians, would have followed suit a few days afterwards and there may have been an earlier invasion of Europe, leading to a more rapid defeat of Germany, a full claim on Berlin and maybe further east too. Thus no Cold War to the extent that we went through.

Britain would still have the majority of it's Empire and with no excessive interest on the lend/lease program from the US it would still be able to pocket most of it's gold and trade transactions from these colonies instead of having to hand it over making the rebuilding situation a quicker process. This would lead to the great home-grown scientists/inventors/engineers etc not leaving the country for the US to earn a better wage.

Just my brief take on it anyway.

The power shift would be to the European Union and China. There would be a lot more conflict in the world without the US. We also produce over half of the food for the rest of the world. Our influence goes past military strength we provide the best doctors in the world and major advancements in technology. The US economy keeps the world economy stable. Aid that other countries get would be gone and those countries would feel the effects. The world could live without the US but it would be very difficult.

The world would be a vastly different place if not for the United States. With the arrogance of several different countries, I see the strife and bs continuing, maybe at a higher rate of escalation because the superpowers would most likely be Russia, Germany and China, or maybe a coalition of Mid Eastern countries. Oh, wait, those are the 'arrogant' countries. In which case, there could have already been several entire countries wiped off the face of the planet due to nuclear 'incidents.'

If we just took the USA off the map in say a mass epidemic. The world would turn into a free for all. Every major player would be fighting for the soil that was once the USA. The climate is perfect for many growing seasons, the abundant natural resources, and of course, Location, Location, Location. The world would be in Chaos trying to get what we have.

ask not what American did for the world yesteryears

ask what American can do for the world now, tomorrow

the world is interconnected and corporates cross borders their leaders need not be elected by their consumers, creditors.

So this question mislead people to focus on the greatness of America, when borders fading away.

Major corporate own many important bits in every nations. while government own the burden.

Corporate HQ in NewYork may be owned by Arab.

No one is great now, Bill Gates, Intel, Buffetts,

because the great people are humbling themselves, because they are seeking answers of where is the next great waves, next big industries.

but definitely not fabricating paper wealth

but create new buying power through employing more people

not farm subsidies

but using the full values of produce

e.g.

Best grade of agro for food

then for cattle and industrial feedstock

then for packaging

used, useless, pass out, use for energy

so America is still a agriculture nation

so farmers can multiply their value add many times over the same land, same crop, same output, without subsidies, without trade war with Europe.

Europe was top dog before we took the spot from them. I'm sure they would just take the top spot back and life would go on. (not saying there wouldn't be a power struggle... but there is always a power struggle it seems). Maybe we're better off with a strong US in the world... but to say "the world couldn't go on without the US" is pure ignorance and ego. Neither of which is a good thing.

I think probably one of the Asian countries. They seem to be a real standout (korea, china, japan). Their people seem much more dedicated, smarter, and guided than your typical american. I think it's amazing usa has stayed in power for so long, because if you look at history countries were always seized, taken over, and destroyed. Honestly with as complacent and comfortable as many americans have become, i think it's only a matter of time before that happens to us. Afterall, have you taken a good look at today's youth and their parents? It's all quite sad, disgusting, and embarassing.

American is likely certainly one of the only places on the earth the you could start up out with no longer something and make a existence for your self. you could start up out undesirable and grow to be prosperous. choose an occasion... Oprah, Barack Obama, bill Gates.... a reliable concepts and confusing artwork and you will prevail. I agree with Daniel... but I'd throw Russia in the mix too... they were about the only other country that could of beat the Nazis... that is unless the Japanese ganged up on them... even then Russia would be hard to top... in fact, if it wasn't for the fact that Communism doesn't work well in the real world they probably would have won the Cold War...

less see, US today... 10 TRILLION DOLLAR deficit (universe is only 18 BILLION years old), $1.4 billion a WEEK for a bogus war, economy collapsing, housing market belly up, China owing 80% of our debt, and this great country not producing anything meaningful any more (the business has effectively sold our manufacturing prowess to China)... where would the world be, other than where it is ? China already has the power... wake up and smell the *service economy* here...
