What do you think Jimmy Connors should do...?
stay with an overhyped Roddick that will never win another slam and has too many difficiencies in his game to contend; get out of coaching; or should he bring his knowledge to someone who can actually benefit like Richard Gasquet, Donald Young, Marin Cilic or Juan Del Potro.
Personally I would like to see him take on a more talented younger player that he can really leave a mark on. You dont want to coach someone over 23 as they are unlikely to really improve their game. I think all of the players listed above could make a great push up the rankings with his help.
Hey Doc, preaching to the choir. I am no Roddick fan and I think Connors could do a lot better than waste his time on Roddick. One other thing, I love how Roddick can make even an average server like Kohlschreiber look great. Roddick cannot return serve or even threaten a top player's serve.

As long as Connors is satisfied to take Roddick's money and have his name linked with a "One Slam Wonder," that's fine by me.
In an earlier question about whether or not Roddick would make it to the finals, I said "no" precisely because he is a limited player who cannot defeat an opponent who really presses him and challenges him.
Truthfully, I'm glad Roddick got bounced early, if for no other reason than he and Coach Connors made all manner of fun of Michael Berrer, the German player that Roddick defeated on Wednesday. So, "A-Rod" got knocked out by another German player. What goes around does come around, and there is a sort of "tennis justice" after all.
It's always a pleasure to see someone who thinks he's a real hotshot get taken down a peg or two.
P.S. I agree ENTIRELY, akesher. Once an opponent takes Roddick's serve out of the equation, as Federer has so smoothly done, then Roddick doesn't have a whole lot left in his arsenal, does he?

Connors will stay with Roddick, he will not coach:
Richard Gasquet- Because he's foreign
Donald Young- Because he's African
Marin Cilic- Because he's foreign
Juan Del Potro- Because he's hispanic

Conners should coach Donald Young, or maybe McEnroe should do it. McEnroe acknowledge Young's potential from a very early age, and I think if either of these two tennis legends coached Young, he'll really be a threat to the world.
(Conners should have no problems coaching Young! Young is American after all!)
