Does anyone have suggestions for strategies on how to improve speed and jumping abilities?
I want to improve my speed and jumping abilites by at least a bit in another 7 or 8 months. I considered ankle weights or weight vests, but I'm not so sure after researching the affects. Does anyone have suggestions or strategies for how to improve without weights?

The answer here is too simple: run and jump.
For the running, you're going to need both distance and short sprints. For the sprints, shuttle runs and suicides are the best for tennis because you have to change directions. Straight sprints are good, but they don't do much for quick direction change. For long distance, just get out and run. The point is to improve stamina, so push yourself a little more every time you run.
Like I said, jump to help with jumping. Jumping rope is always a good one. You can also hop with one foot, but make sure you always use the ball of your foot. Never land/jump flat footed. You can also do line jumps. Find a line, or even create an imaginary one, and hop back and forth over the line as fast as you can for about 30 seconds. Then do it side to side.

Try jump rope and/or running sprints for improving speed.
For improving jumping abilities try sitting against a wall until your thighs burn.
Also do calf raises.
