Anyone know the % that credit cards charge Businesses?
Does anyone know what the fee is that credit card companies usually charge a business to use one of their cards. I think it's around 2-3% but I'm not sure. I'm buying a car and using my card to put down a partial down payment. I don't want the dealer to mark up the percent. Anyone know??

Depends on what the car dealership set up when they started accepting credit cards. Some places get zapped with an extra fee if they only have a few transactions per month. You should have the total for the car before you give them your card. IF they charge a fee for accepting credit cards it must be clearly posted I would think. I know vendors are not allowed to refuse a credit card based on the cost of the purchase per their agreement with the credit card companies.

The fees are not as low as 2-3%. That's just silly to think. Especially with the credit crunch that is going on right now. Citi Group reported a $10 billion loss, other banks are loosing out at the same rate so the interest rates on any money given out are sky high.
Be careful not to make the most common mistake of business credit cards and personal cards for business purposes. In personal credit cards for business use you are still personally guaranteeing the debt. In other words, you are taking out a credit card under your name and stating that all expenses on it will be for a business.
A true business credit card is completely separate from you or your personal guarantee. It does not involve your social and certainly does not ask for a personal guarantee. To obtain those type of cards is hard and it is suggested to speak to a mentoring service.
Begin your search for business credit cards online by typing in "strong business credit" (just like that in quotes) via google or yahoo. Those companies usually cost $1000 and will help you find the answers.

for 2010 if the amount was expenced you are screwed unless you amend the return. For 2011 pay the bill move the personal charges to advances and off set with your payment easy as pie. Your bookkeeper should know this procedure by heart
