I was basically exposed to my mother's radio.
I lisened to all types of music, from Bob Marley to Guns n' Roses.
She had always on this channel that puts on all types of music, and I started to pay attention to it when I was 7. The songs I most liked were the ones from Guns n' roses, Elvis and Bruce Springsteen.
Later, when I started to download music by myself I discovered that I had also been hearing the Sex Pistols, Rancid, Judas Priest and the Offspring for some time. I heard the typical songs from films that appeared on TV and that.
My father liked a lot the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin, though I never heard his LPs until I was 13 or so, when I asked him to show them to me.
This did influence me, cos I ended up being punk and liking rock and metal, so imagine to what extent it did...

My parents listened mainly to country and folk music like Johnny Cash, Anne Murray, Gordon Lightfoot, etc.
"Delta Dawn" is one of the first songs I learned to sing and play on the guitar because my dad loved that song.
At school I was exposed to mainly classical, some folk and pop music of the time.
As a kid, my friends and I listened to the Top 40 radio hits of the time (the 70's), which was a mixture of rock, soul, funk, and pop.
By High School I started listening to more prog rock, Floyd Zeppelin....and many others. I was mainly influenced by what my boyfriends in High School listened to.
So, I was exposed to a good variety of music. I don't think it really impacted my taste. That's something internal. I'm not a big country fan, although I do like Johnny Cash.
If anything, a lot of the pop rock that was huge in the 70's like Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, Supertramp...negatively impacted my taste. I got so sick of hearing them over and over again.
I was in a band for a little while and always hung out with friends that were into music so that influenced me.But, I think my taste has always just come from personal preference.

During my childhood I was mostly exposed to N*Sync, Backstreet Boys, Christina Aguilera, and Britney Spears.
From my parents though, I got ZZ Top, a lot of Jimmy Buffet, a LOT of Roy Orbison, Bad Company, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, a fair amount of Queen, and some Def Leppard and Guns N' Roses.
Thankfully, my parents' influences prevailed, and I took what they gave me and branched out into the stuff I like now.

I listened to a lot of Cher. She was my favorite singer throughout my whole childhood, and I still love Cher's and Sonny and Cher's music. I think that after I discovered SOnny and Cher, I wanted to expose more 60's music, and now, I am addicted to Janis Joplin.
I also listened to Britney Spears and Ricky Martin and Backstreet boys. Little kids don't know any better. I only now can hear how annoying their voices and songs were.
My grandma liked Cher, and my mom liked Ricky Martin...I think...

Absolutely! My grandmother was a swing dancer, so I grew up listening to a lot of swing, big band and jazz. My parents were baby boomers, so with them I grew up with the Beach Boys, Motown, etc. My aunt was much younger than my mom, so thanks to her I was exposed to 70s rock. My much older brother made sure I was exposed to the 80s, such as Tesla and Judas Priest. Of course then I got "contemporary" music from my classmates and MTV, etc while growing up and in school. So to this day I literally listen to everything. Music had a massive impact on my life, leading me into the music industry and even into teaching music history. Not to mention it really helps with creativity skills. I say no child can have too much music in thier life. :)

My mother only listened to country-western and Elvis (still does) and I can't stand either now (to wake me up as a sleeping-in teenager my mother used to put the stereo speaker in front of my bedroom door and play "Coward of the County at full volume). My father listened to a little bit of everything and was the one that introduced to music such as Deep Purple, Uriah Heep & Bob Dylan.
I listen to a wide variety of music but not from country western so yes both parents impacted my music tastes - my mother for teaching me what I wish to avoid and my father for introducing me to some really great rock n' roll.
