PS3 Vs Blu-ray player?

i was in the market for a blu ray player last year and i asked myself this same question.

i ended up with the ps3 60gb 100$ off from sony,5 free bd movies and a free bd remote.

i guess my timing was right.

The nice advantage that the PS3 has over any Blu-Ray player (apart from the games), is that Sony makes firmware upgrades to enhance your Blu-Ray experience. Just two weeks ago, Sony added the Picture in Picture functionality and the Blu-Ray profile 1.0 and profile 2.0 - this is functionality which no other Blu-Ray player on today's market has - and current Blu-Ray players will never have as they do not have the option to upgrade firmware like the PS3 has. To sum up, if BluRay capabilities change Like they have done this past month), Sony can modify the PS3 to match that. You cannot do that with a Blu-Ray player

Ps3 is made by sony like everyone knows but so is the blu-ray player so the Ps3 will have the same graphics as a regular one so the ps3 would be a better deal.

Good question, but the PS3 prices just dropped in the past few months. They had to drop to compete with the Xbox and Wii. They cost serious $$$$$$$ in the beginning, and they still aren't cheap.

But the other Blu-ray players' prices will drop because everyone will buy a PS3 instead.

PS3, You'll get a decent Blu Ray Player.

U'll have internet, you can download Linux, and use it just like a computer.

You have a Media Player - Videos, Music, and all that.

And Games - 2008 = Year for Ps3 Games(Exclusive. Haze, Killzone 2, Tekken 6, WarDevil, and MANY MORE

You can buy a good Blu-ray player at Best Buy for about $ 299.
