Does anyone recommend the book " Atonement"?

I have seen the film and I was disappointed with it and am wondering if the book will give me more insight into the main characters.

Definitely! The book goes much further into detail of everyone's lives, especially that of Briony's. I think you'll probably like the book much better than the movie. I know that's the way it usually works for me. :-)

Are you kidding? Atonement was the best movie I've seen in ages!! Ok, so I don't really want you to answer that; it's just a difference of opinion.

But, to the question at hand! My mom is reading the book (I'm waiting for her to finish so I can have her copy.) and she says that it's slow, slow and verrrrrry descriptive. However, it sounds like you're looking for a little more depth to the story, which I believe the book would provide for you. I think you should definitely read it. What could be the worst? You could hate it, of course, but that's about it.
