Why are people against gay marriage? Honestly, if a gay couple gets married, how is it going to affect YOUR life? Let people be happy!

P.S: I don't mean you (the ask-er of this question) in particular, I mean everyone.

Let me toss some irony your way. Your crowd usually is against abortions, and suggests the parents put the child up for adoption, instead. However, you say that same-sex couples can't have kids. Adoption? I personally don't have a problem with incest, as long as they're consenting adults. Go nuts. Also, this is just my opinion, but I don't think people should have to register as a sex offender after they've served their time in jail. I also think prisoners released from jail should be allowed to vote, as well.

I so do not understand why people would not allow for same sex couples to be married with no ifs ands or buts. If that is what makes people happy, there not hurting anybody, just let them be happy. If a different sex couple was getting married and i rushed in during the ceremony and said "You can't get married your a man and your a woman! That is wrong!" How silly would that be? And the labeling of things is just BS and they need to deal with their issues some other way. I have several homosexual friends and I see no reason why they should be treated any different from other people! If you don't support same sex marriage, don't get one. simple as that.

Homosexuals should be entitled to all of the same rights and privileges as every American. If they're of legal age, American citizens, and they're consenting adults, it should not be anyone else's business.

Unfortunately the Christian right has hijacked the term "marriage" and apparently taken up the defense of it. If they really cared about marriage they'd outlaw divorces. But you don't see that happening do you?

That depends if marriage is a legal or church term. If it's a solely a church term, the church can put whatever rules on it they like and it should not be a political issue. If it's a legal term, I believe gay couples are deserving of the same title.

Even though I'm not for gay marriage, I think they should be able to have some of the same rights as a heterosexual couple. For example, same hospital visitation rights as the family.

I personally believe that gayness is unnatural as we are created to as amn and woman to create new life; but if they really want to be "married" and have the same responsibilities, then let them. I just hope my insurance rates don't go up.

No, I think same sex couples should be allowed to say they are married like the rest of us.

I don't believe in same sex marriages. Not quite sure what you mean by equal rights. I think everyone should have equal rights. I think they should be allowed the same rights as any two unmarried people who live in the same house. They can call it whatever they want.

What's the difference if they can call themselves married or not? What does it really change or harm?

The discussion should NOT be "should we give these people this right?" The discussion should be "What justifies denying these people this right?"
