I am no Clinton fan, but Clinton did not give back the Canal. The Panama Canal debacle can be contributed to the bumbling fool of a president Jimmy Carter.

None. Everything had to be turned back over to the Panamanians by noon 31dec99. I was an instructor at the jungle school from 97-99 and seen a lot of facilities during that time get turned over. great tour.

Really? My father retired from there around that time (1993), but he was Air Force. Small world.

But I do know for sure that US troops are not there anymore. I work for a unit that works together with CENTAM countries on catching drugs/weapons/migrates, but Panama is not one of those countries we work with. Not only did they kick the US out, they don't even want to work together on things....

Its money making for all the politicians' acquaintances who very own hands inventory and war machines inventory and positioned money into such agencies. good for the wealthy that are politically linked to the 'grasping ones' in gov't. All approximately money and potential.

The Chinese Army, They assumed it after Clinton did not re-new the 100 year lease, and the Chinese leased it at midnight 2000. Now they control the canal and all the old military bases and are in short range missile distance of the US. Thanks Bill Clinton

I don't believe there is anymore. The whole area was turned back to the Government several years ago.
