When is the best time to buy a car?
What month in the year is better to buy a car? Hopefully I get some answers from some auto sales people. I am saving now and have enough to buy a small car. I want something economical and with a lot of room. Kinda wide open.

I agree with other answerers that there is no particularly best time (meaning temporal) to buy a car and that being a good negotiator is key. However, the best time (meaning opportunity) to get a great deal is when a company sets out on a marketing campaign to push a new model and they offer incentives to go with the purchase. Such an event happened with Hyundai in 2006. Or, when a company comes out with a car that pushes the limits and every other competitor races to catch up with that move in the next few fiscal quarters. Honda, Toyota, Ford, and Chevy brought their same class models up to speed with Hyundai after 2006. When Hyundai introduced their eight cylinder luxury monster in 2007/2008 to compete with Audi and BMW, both competitor companies enhanced their cars to offer more bang for the buck.

Forget the myths about buying at the end of the month, end of the year or the like. If you are a good negotiator and are patient enough you will eventually get a good deal.
To help speed up the process, once you have decided on the car you want head along to the dealer about 30 to 45 minutes before they close. That way the staff will be anxious to head home and wont drag out the negotiations.
In the end though, the best deal is a price you can afford and are happy with.
The cars I would consider in your situation would be the Mazda3, Mazda6 and Honda Civic. I own, or have owned all 3, and can recommend each of them.

Now - which is right after most auto shows - and in the Oct/Nov timeframe. Some cars don't get discounted very often (those being the most popular ones like Toyota, Mazda, Honda), but if you buy the year down - you can usually negotiate a decent deal. My son bought a Mazda 3 brand new (he bought an 05 after the 06 came out) and got a decent deal - he also had money saved to put down so his payments are only $220 a month. Bring a parent with you - don't negotiate alone.
The Mazda 3 is a great car, roomy, good gas mileage, sporty and nice looking - he still loves it!

Good luck!

I think the best time is end of year sales, when auto places start advertising that they will be getting in new models for the next year (which is usually in August) I think is the best time to buy a car.

August or September if you want all the new to models but if you want to get a low price December, January, February because they need to get the new models in. You should probably a Toyota Land Crusier, Sequoia, 4-Runner, or Highlander, Rav -4. Go Rav-4

Depends on what your looking for. typically August/September when the model year switches you can buy a last year model that is still new for good savings.
