The best women's basketball player of all time is non other than Reggie Miller's sister.

    Cheryl Miller

    Career Highlights:

    - Recipient of the 1986 YWCA Silver Achievement Award, Miller was the first woman basketball player to be nominated for the Sullivan Award (1985-86). She was also voted the 1984-85 ESPN Woman Athlete of the Year.

The first USC basketball player - male or female - to have her number retired, she was the MVP of the Final Four tournament in both her freshman and sophomore years as she led USC to the national championship in 1982-83 and 1983-84.

    - Four-time all-American and three-time Player-of-the-Year at USC, Miller was a member of the 1984 U.S. Olympic gold medal women's basketball team. In 1986, she led the U.S. team to the Women's World Basketball Championship title in Moscow. Earlier in the year, she led the American women past the Soviet women for the gold medal at the Goodwill Games.

    - January 1997, Miller was named Head Coach and General Manager of the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury.

    - Scored 105 points in a single basketball game.

But if asked for the best in today's game it is indeed Diana Taurasi of the Phoenix Mercury (WNBA).

There is no doubt it is TERESA EDWARDS

Teresa Edwards (born July 19, 1964 in Cairo, Georgia)[1] is an American former women s basketball player and currently an assistant coach for the Atlanta Dream. In 2000, Sports Illustrated magazine placed her as 22nd of the "100 Greatest Female Athletes of the 20th Century".

The US Olympic Committee appointed Edwards as chef de mission for the 2012 Olympic Games.[2]

Edwards began her college career at the University of Georgia where she was a two time All-American. She was the starting point guard for the Georgia Bulldogs,[1] helping lead them to the Final Four in 1983 and 1985. Edwards played in her first Olympic Games as a collegian, and was the youngest member of the team,in 1984.[1] Her college jersey number (#5) was retired, making her one of only three Lady Bulldog players given that honor.[1]

Edwards is the first female basketball player to have played in five Olympics.[1] She is jointly (with Australian Andrew Gaze) the third basketball player to compete at five Olympics along with Puerto Rican Teófilo Cruz and Brazilian Oscar Schmidt.

She also holds the unique distinction of being the youngest gold medalist in women s basketball (age 20 in 1984) and the oldest gold medalist in women s basketball (age 36 in 2000).[1]

She made a record fifth Olympic basketball team, earning a fourth gold medal to go with her bronze medal. She returned to Europe in 2002.

    Awards and honors[edit]

2010: Women s Basketball Hall of Fame [16][17]

2009–2012: USA Basketball Board of Directors[18]

2011: Inducted to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame[19]

    2011: NCAA Silver Anniversary Award[20]

    2013: FIBA Hall of Fame[21]

If you mean currently active players, it pretty much is between Lauren Jackson, Diana Taurasi, and maybe Lisa Leslie right now. Whom you or anyone picks is pretty much who of the three you like better. I'd go with Lauren Jackson in terms of individual talent, but Diana Taurasi makes her whole team and teammates better. It's a team game, so my choice is Diana.

With Lisa planning to return to playing this summer, we'll see if age and/or her absence have affected her game any.

Lisa Leslie is probably the most well-known for WNBA.

I'd have to go with Diana Taurasi. She's very talented as a guard, and she's good-looking in person.

    Source(s): Met her at UConn.
