If I use one of those USB plug ins, can I get wireless internet on my desktop?
Even if I don't actually have an internet connection in my house? If so, what kind should I use?

If you do not have internet access or a wifi router, a USB wifi adapter will not work unless you "borrow" from your neighbor's wireless network.
However, verizon does sell USB adapter that gets internet from cell phone networks - however this costs significantly more than any other offerings.

basically if you dont have an internet connection in your house then legally you cant get internet for the best connection compare some internet providers and get a good deal on your internet preferably with a free wireless router then you will be able to have wireless internet on any kind of pc you use. if you search for local wireless networks and dont have your own u may be able to find a neighbours but this is not reccomendable because its illegal and if they find out then they have access to your pc and any iformation you may send over the internet. Short story if you want wireless pay for it and secure your network

well, yes you could. some cities and apartment complexes offer free internet access. sometimes people's neighbors have their own wireless connection and it is unsecured so they can just hop right on. if you find a connection and its really weak you can always buy whats called a wireless extender. they are about $60 and they just require a power outlet and they can extend whatever signal is available and make it usable.
