Help on Ford SUV's?

Looking to get into a used Ford SUV. Looking into either Expedition or Explorer. Would like to know around what mileage would be acceptable for used one between 98' to 03'?

the 4.0 v6 explorers had a tranny problem that ford tried to band aid with an additive.... problem will still arise - just after warranty period - and continue to worsen until it won't move at all....

as for the expeditions they are built with the truck drive train and generally hold up a little better - the 4.6 and the 5.4 are both pretty good engines....

the 6.0 diesel has been known to have some minor issues.... as for the mileage really depends.... you never know how it was maintained so it could last a little while or a long time with any miles... hope this helps and best of luck!

Another vehicle choice that mileage shouldn't be a primary concern! The Exploder will do better on gas being lighter with a V-6. An Exped is more or less an F-150 that will get 12.5 mpg on a good day.

we have a 2001 Ford Exprlored eddie bauer edition with the 5.0Liter V-8. The thing is indestructable it has 110,000 miles and no problems besides matinence. I suggest getting one with the V-8 it will last longer and the acceleration will impress you mine gets 15.6 mpg on average.
