Does this exist?

Hello!

I was wondering, is there a device that you can put a object in (maybe like a box) and then scan it in 3d and export it to a 3d modeling program?

Thanks!

I had heard about something like this years ago. It looks as though they are still actively pursuing it. I saw it first introduced as a "3-Dimensional fax machine."

Yes they have this. its used in most Computer games now days. They create a model of something, scan it (with a laser) and then it is in the computer. What this thing is called I don't know! and probably costs a lot!
