Why is it that Christians believe the bible to be the truth?

I firmly believe Paul took the teachings of an Essene rabbi called Jesus and rearranged them to fit the Mithras mythology. There were many wannabe messiahs around the time of Jesus; the man who could establish a religion based on a "real" messiah would be a very powerful and respected man, which Paul apparently wanted to be.

The fact that Paul never met Jesus, and that Jesus never foretold Paul's appearance (unless it was included in his warning about deceivers that would fool "the very elect"), should be proof that Paul had no authority in real Christianity.

The 66 books of the Bible are all derived from the original Hebrew texts found in the Dead Sea Scrolls for the Old Testament and over 23,000 original manuscripts for the New Testament. It has been translated into almost every language and is THE most translated and well documented book on earth. It is also the best selling book of all time. No other literary work comes close.

The veracity of the Bible is compelling...there are hundreds of accurate prophecies contained in it which came absolutely true hundreds of years after they were prophesied. No other prophetic book or individual comes close to that....most prophecies by others are given for a short time span and are vague or non-specific.

There are dozens of scientific observations in the Bible which are accurate and were written many centuries before science described them.

The historical sites in the Bible have all proven to be true in the field of archeology.

The way the Bible is written...over a period of centuries by many different authors and yet inter-related and inter-connected points to a common author of Divine knowledge.

No. The Da vinci Code is actually all lies about Jesus. It isn't just a fiction book. It was meant to sway people from believing the Truth.

I know the Truth when I read it. That's how I know the Bible is the Truth. The Holy Spirit, who lives in me is descerning, and leads me into all truth.

We believe what we believe. That's what makes us who we are.

From the Olt Testament alone, more than 2000 specific prophesies have been fulfilled.

No other so called Holy book compares.Most of the 333 prophesies concerning the Messiah were fulfilled by the birth and life of Jesus Christ and the rest will be fulfilled at His second coming. A mathematician, Peter Stoner, had his graduate students calculate what the odds would be of any one person fulfilling just eight of these prophesies. He found the chance was one in 100,000,000,000,000,000 !Only a God who knows the future could have revealed these prophesies to those that He would have record them in His Word.

In spite of what is being taught today, the truth is we can reconstruct most of the life of Jesus Christ through non - Christian writers of the first century. Even Celsus who despised Christianity, never considered claiming that Jesus Christ did not exist.This is what can be learned from the writing of Celsus...

He was born of a virgin in a small village of Judea;

He was adored by wise men;

His birth was followed by the slaughter of infants by order of Herod;

He took flight to Egypt, where Celsus supposed Christ learned the charms of the Magicians;

After returning, He resided in Nazareth;He was baptized and the Holy Spirit descended on Him as a voice was heard from heaven;

He elected disciples;

He was a friend with publicans and other low people;

He cured the lame and blind;

He raised people from the dead;

He was betrayed by Judas;

He was denied by Peter;

In addition Celsus refers to several details of Christ's passion, crucifiction, and resurrection.

Twenty seven books of the New Testament, nineteen Pagan writers, and three Jewish writers testify to Jesus Christ's historical reality. When I hear people say that Jesus or the Bible is just a myth I just realise that they are simply unaware of the facts.I recommend The Case For Christ by Lee Strobel and or Skeptics Answered or The Gate Of Hell Shall Not Prevail by D. You have to live it to know it. I would bet you anything if you began to research the Bible you would and could never be the same again. You will look at God's creation from a different level. Prove me wrong. Now, the Da Vinci Code is mess.

No other book of it's antiquity has prophesied with such accuracy, 100%. No other book has been written with 0 contradictions over so many years and so many writers. Common sense tells one that something special is going on.

The Bible also is a history book that is above par, and science has not been able to disprove it over time.

But more importantly, what other book do you know that so many millions, billions of people over time has said that when it is read they communicate with God? It is important to not forget the anecdotal evidence. I don't know of any other book that claim such accuracy, prophecy and supernatural power.

But asking about the truthfulness, half of the Bible seems unlikely to be real. so its just a matter of choice to follow a way to a right path of life even its not true. or just focus about truth and be lost in the way. and live life unaccordingly. Yet once again...when we accept Christ as Savior through faith we actually RECEIVE something called THE HOLY SPIRT which allows us to DISCERN TRUTH. So...when you receive the Holy Spirit you can discern truth and the Bible is truth. It really is just that simple!!!!
