I named Sadie the wonder dog, and the bird (General Sterling Price).
I had no say at all on any of the others.
My favorites where when Little Sweetie #1 was going through a quite literal stage. The black cat was "Blackie". The three goldfish were "Goldie, Orange-y, and Yellow-y".

Depends who's pet it is. I had a hamster so I named it. We had two goldfish so I named one and my sister named one. We now have a dog, my sister named it Barney because it was meant as a way to help her exercise more but it's ended up that I do it! But it suits him, and I think it's a cool name =)

The kids name all the animals at my house. They also have the responsiblity of feeding and watering them if they want to name them. This teaches them good raising habits. Seems like every cat gets named Tommy.

We take turns. I'd already named my cat before I met my husband, "Kitty"(in case she ever gets lost. Everyone already knows her name) and my husband had a cat he named Prince before we met. Prince was killed by a pack of wild dogs last year (!!) and we got a new kitten. We bantered back and forth over names and then both agreed on Fender, as in the guitar, since we're both musicians.

Whoever spends the most time with them and calls them by name the most should get dibs. I like one syllable names for dogs, it's more like a bark and I think they relate better.

We both choose the pets names. But since my hubby is way into Japanese stuff, most of them have had Japanese names or Greek names.
