Your symptoms sound more like strep throat. However, I would not rule out the flu or any other viral infection that is going on right now. You may need to go to the Doctor and get an antibiotic. Continue with the fluid and take something to ease your sore throat (e.g. Chloraseptic, Vicks Soothers, etc.) and try a salt water gargle and/or hydrogen peroxide gargle...both kill germs and sooth the throat. Use 2 teaspoons salt to 1 cup water and/or equal parts hydrogen peroxide and water. Also, add some Vitamin C. You can get the tablets at any drug store.
Hope you feel better soon.

Everything except the throat on fire is a common flu symptom. A burning throat is more often a symptom of strep throat - it is extremely painful.
