why doesnt lupe fiasco have mainstream hits?

Superstar is about as mainstream as he gets. Trust me, his album is better than 98% of the garbage that's supposedly "hip hop" today. I'm happy he isn't "mainstream" as I hope he doesn't "sell out" like some other rappers.

It's very simple. Kanye West is a version of 50 cent on the other side of the spectrum. The content that Kanye West displays on albums is as simple as 50 cent's. It's not deep like Lupe Fiasco. Lupe Fiasco isn't even deep in my mind. People need to check out some underground hiphop, there is more where that came from, honestly.

Superstar is pretty mainstream since its played on the top 40 and hip hop stations. Its not heavily rotated however because these stations only play garbage music. Alot of them are paid to play this junk and inundate the airwaves with lots and lots of the same music

he does have a mainstream hit.. but billboard goes off of sales.. and lupe didnt sell like that..

thats the only reason... record sales.. billboard doesnt really have much to do with what the quality of the music is.. but it IS based on record sales

because his lyrics go over people's heads. very few actually know what he's talking about. and plus, he doesn't put out song with heavy bass or anything u'd hear in a club. he's a lyrical mc and does a dam good job too.
