Web Server?

I am on a project in my EAST Class in my school that requires me to make a web server to put web sites made by other students on the internet. What is an easy and free/cheap way to setup a computer to do that?

Is the computer for INSIDE or for the WORLD? Does make a difference..

    http://www.amazon.com/Teach-Yourself-MySQL-Apache-...

tells you all you need to know to setup a quick server with Apache/PHP/ Mysql

If its just INSIDE You can just instal UBUNTU server.. which will set those up. Runs on most machines without issues. (I am using one here for development.. it an older 1.2 gig processor, with 1gig ram and a 160meg hd) http://ubuntu.com/ easy to setup

If it is for the world to be able to access.. well a hosting company will be a better choice

An old box running linux with apache would probably be the cheapest way of doing it.
