in any groupof the periodic table, do elements tend to lose electrons more readily as atomic size increases?

i have test on monday so i have to understand why?

    basically all electrons and protons attract each other with a force that decreases as the distance between them increases so when the atomic size increases the distance b/w the elctrons and protons also increases rite?! thats y elements tend to loose electrons more easily as size increases cuz the force b/w them decreases ok?
