Nazi partisan retribution in Italy in 1944.
Incidents which usually involved the killing of a German soldier or soldiers.
Reprisals usually intitiated by the troops immediatley or the arrivals of units or formations specifically designed for the purpose. There were no taking hostages in the normal sense of the word but a number of people are selected haphazardly from the local populace and are killed by shooting or hanging whilst whole villages, farms and selected housing are destroyed by fire, and in some cases an announcement was made to the population that the action was a reprisal for the death of a German soldier and would be repeated if another attack took place. A typical example is the Citvella atrocity. Partisan bands had been operating against the Germans and two soldiers were killed and a third wounded. On the 29th of June 1944, the Germans caried out a well organised reprisal. Innocent people were shot on sight and during that day 212 men, women and chidren were killed. Some of the murdered women were found completely naked. Ages of the dead ranged between 1 year to 84 years old.
That was for two dead Germans and 1 wounded. Imagine the scale of retribution had an attack on the scale of 9/11 happened on German soil.
Brutal yet Effective.

Hitler supporter Islamists in the Balkans and in the Middle East. The Ba'ath Party (the Party of Sadaam Hussein in Iraq and of the Assaad regime in Syria) was modelled on the NAZI party and recieved finacnial support an dadvisors from Hitler. After the war, many German NAZIs went to Iraq and Syria to support the Ba'ath Party. The name of Assaad's party in Syria is al Ba'ath Nationaist Arab Socialist Party. Note the similarity with Hitler's Nationals Socialist German Workers Party.

History 101 time.
The political landscape of the Middle East would have been different if the Axis had won. The fact is that the Nazis were backing the Muslims against the British in the Middle East. The Germans were sending them arms and money and a small amount of planes and men. They hoped the Muslims would kick the Brits out of the oil rich lands and cripple the Brits even further.
The British managed to hold onto the Middle East and eventually the Allies won WWII but if it had been the other way around it would be impossible to predict what things would be like.
The Baath Party (Saddam Hussein's Political Party) was actually modeled after the National Socialists (The Nazis).
The History Channel plays a program every now and then that explains all of this better.
Hitler left a huge trail of blood behind him during his reign. If someone had sprung up and done something he didn't like I would not be surprised if he hung them from piano wire.

He would have targeted the whole group. Every member of the extended family of a suicide bomber, for example, would have been executed out of hand. He might even have cleared out the whole ethnic district into a concentration camp. You can see what he would have done if you look at what happened in Czechoslovakia after Churchill sent in assassins to kill Heydrich.

good question!
yes i believe he would have tried to strom over there an kill everyone in sight, but i don't believe he would have overcome the terrorists in their own country. they would have been cut off from the rest of the world anyway, probably with a big grey wall round the middle east!!
- Anonymous1 decade ago
He wouldn't have had to deal with these terrorists as they would be too affraid to cross the Nazi Army!!!
- Anonymous1 decade ago
They would have been dealt with so swiftly they would not have known what hit them...
And they would not have taken prisoners unless they needed to interrogate them,,, and they would have got any info that they needed.
