Wow, and people find Novak cocky when he says he wants to be #1 and the guy is actually very close to the top???

Do you remember questions like this one being asked about Nalbandian at the end of 2007? So, what happened with Nalbandian?

Tsonga did play great this tournament, it is up to him if he will continue in that style or not, but he will definitely not be #1 any time soon, but some time in the future - maybe!

No, Tsonga will not be the new number 1, at least not in my opinion. I mean, look, he only just beat Nadal, Nadal was probably having a bad day. Nadal has won the French Open more than 3 times. Nadal isn't as good on hard courts as he is on clay. It's good that he made it to the semis in the Australian Open. There's no way Tsonga will be the new Number 1!!!

Are you kidding me? Tsonga future number one? ahahahaha Anyway lets be serious now, i very much doubt that Tsonga will even make the top 10 never mind becoming no.1 in the world!!! All due respect to the guy he has played amazing throughout this tournement proved himself by beating top players (poor rafa having a bad day) lol However this is only one tournement, Tsonga needs to keep up this level of play for a very long time....my answer to that will be No, he wont be able to maintain this high level of tennis! To compare him to guys like Rafa and Roger is madness these guys have played unbelievable out of this world tennis consistent for the past 3, 4, years !!!! Yeah they may have there bad days, there only human after all, lose a match here and there but for sure this year its gonna be Nadal and Federer making majority of the finals just like every other year! Sorry to burst your bubble :) but Tsonga is a one hit wonder, whats the deal with him taking bathroom breaks at end of each set? Hmm....i reckon he`s on steriods haha cause the way he hits that ball, its not really classy tennis its more sheer brute strength he`s winning points by force and the way he wins cheap points with drop shots at the net, i mean come on 10 times of 10 those shots he made clip the net an bounce over once, without giving the player a chance to reach it and also the way he acts immature with the crowd with his stupid arm gestures and ``c`mons`` dont see rafa an roger playing up to the crowd thats what you call true champions remain quiet whether getting beat or winning! What do you mean ``he took nadal like he did before`` erm exscuse me mate, Rafa beat tsonga last year at the usa open 2007 in 3 straight sets....so get your facts right i suggest u have another look at that head to head scoring!!!! Besides everything i have said i do reckon tsonga is going to win this grand slam final on sunday, novak isnt strong enough, Tsonga`s movement and serve has been Brilliant i reckon straight sets against the djoker, gd luck to him throughout his career, but as far as becoming a top player? Nah, all the hype will die down about him after this tournement and we`ll be saying ``who`s tsonga`` hahahahahaha VAMOS RAFA LOVE HIM XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX p.s i reckon tsonga should be a wrestler he`s built for that :)

he certanly has played very well but isnt this what the world said about Marcos Bagdhatis??

sure...at the time he looked destined for a top 5 ranking soon but he hasnt lived up to it.

I think that Tsonga will go a long way in his career making the top 5 at some stage for sure but after Federer falls off his sport, it will be Novak Djockovic in number one. Nadal will never have number one for long as he is only ever a number one quality on clay.....Novak and Roger are good on al surfaces...no one is sure about Tsonga right now.

    It will be very interesting.

I agree with you the Tsonga is a rising star, and could potentially be #1, just not while Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic are still around.

Save this talk for if he beats the real future #1 in Novak Djokovic on Sunday in the men's final. Then you can ask this.

Daniel B, Tsonga is one year older than Nadal and two years older than Djokovic.

    Wow xno1rafafanx, incredible answer.

'etsman24 (formerly Daniel B) - Well look at you. You have answered only 2 tennis questions. You mostly answer in the basketball, fantasy sports, and American football categories.

Absolutely. I was waiting for Federer to beat Novak so i could see who would win out of him and Tsonga. Tsonga is a really great tennis players. I think he would beat Navak today. He seems really confident and strong. He is young and has a great future ahead of him.

I sincerely doubt it!There are many players who had fabulous runs to the finals of the grand slam tournaments and many of them haven't even got to the top 5!Take Baghdatis for example:He also had an incredible run to the final of the AO in 2006 and his career high ranking is #8.The next number one is more likely to be Djokovic.Tsonga still has to prove himself!
