First, she should skim eBay to see what similar goods sold for recently - that creates a general sense of the value of the items.
A working Beta videocassette player can be rather valuable today - there just aren't many around, and some people have collections of rare videos that only operate on those machines.
There are Star Trek clubs that might be good venues for her to offer the collection, or regional sci-fi conventions. She should consider whether selling the items individually versus as a collection reaps the best return, too. It can be tempting to have one piece that's worth a lot by itself, but sometimes the complete collection is considered more valuable because the rare item completes a set.
If she spends a bit of time online, she'll soon k now what the stuff is worth, and have a good idea where to sell it. She can also visit some of the stores that sell things like comic books and collectable action figures - it might be that she can offer it on consignment through such a store, paying the owner a percentage.
Tell her to have patience and do her homework.

AdMag or your local paper. You can put a fixed price on it then. Or, you could find- out where your nearest Star Trek convention type thing is and sell them there, to people who know what they are.
