What is Mardi Gras and when is it?

Mardi Gras is French for Fat Tuesday. It's the last day of Carnival and the day before Ash Wednesday. So basically, it's the last day to party hard before lent begins. It starts February 5th this year. It has deep roots in Louisiana. New Orleans is most famous for their celebrations of it. Also some other places around the world that are known to celebrate Mardi Gras extravagantly are Venice, Italy; Mobile, Alabama; and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Mardi Gras means "Fat Tuesday". Its celebrated in New Orleans, La, U S A. It's the first Tuesday preceding "Lent". Lent is the Catholic 40 days of fasting that comes before Easter. The date varies because Easter Sunday varies.

MARDI GRAS IT FRENCH FOR FAT TUESDAY. IT IS THE TUESDAY BEFORE ASH WEDNESDAY WHICH CHANGES FROM YEAR TO YEAR. THIS YEAR IT IS FEB. 5TH. IT IS KNOWN AS THE LAST DAY TO PARTY HARDY BEFORE THE LENT SEASON BEGINS. IT HAS IT MAJOR ROOTS IN LOUISIANA, BUT OTHER STATES ARE CATCHING ON. NEW ORLEANS IS THE HOME TO THE OFFICIAL MARDI GRAS BUT SMALLER LOUISIANA TOWNS ALSO HOLD FESTIVITES. THERE ARE PARADES, FOOD, MORE PARADES, DANCES, MORE FOOD, AND THEN MORE PARADES.

I HAVE LIVED IN LOUISIANA ALL MY LIFE AND COULD NOT IMAGINE LIFE WITHOUT MARDI GRAS!!!

i think of of cellular, Joe Cain's Widows and decrease Alabama and a minimum of fifty parades are the suited. seem into Alabama Mardi Gras season "fat/Shove" Tuesday is the tip of a month of parades, balls and different activities........attempt it this is a BLAST!!!!!
