it 's not like translate every single word from english sentences or any other langage to french.
the translation is :
j'ai un bon ami appellé John.
Le vendredi , nous avons un groupe d'étude biblique à la café avant l'école avec des autres amis.

Nous allons à un groupe d'etude biblique le vendredi au café , avant l'école avec d'autres amis/ avec des amis.
à le= "au". You have to contract it always , it's not like if you would be given the choice. so everytime you feel like putting "à le", just replace it by "au" ;)
