assuming you are in california all aftermarket parts need to be CARB (california air resources board) certified. they are usually advertised as being so. basically its a little sticker or marking stamped on the part saying it is legal to use.

As long as the part is C.A.R.B. Exempt you will pass emissions. Most new performance parts are and will say it is 50 state legal. If its not, they it just might not be legal in Cali. Thats the strictest state with emissions.

in california what ever mod parts you install must have a C.A.R.B. label to them,also what kind of car are you intending of purchasing?
