How can I remove my external hard drive from the list of options to boot from?

When I restart, or simply turn the computer on, the system tries to automatically boot from my external hard drive when it is connected (USB). I want to keep the external hooked up all the time, but would like to not have to 'escape' to the boot menu each time to avoid this problem. Is there a way to change it?

Update:

To Ritshambastha.....

thanks for the answer. I have a follow up question. In step 3, you say simply remove that hard drive from the list. The problem i have, is that there appears to be no way to remove it. Not only that, the boot master list shows my computer hard drive as 1st, so why would it even get to the external?

The error message that i get when the computer tries to boot is 'NTLDR is missing Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart. In doing this, I have to manually point the system to the internal to boot.

    1. Restart your machine and press 'del' while its booting up.

you will find a black screen coming up

    2. Select 'Boot' tab on the screen

    3. Disable your external hardrive from the list of booting devices.

    4. Press F10 to save and exit

    5. Restart the machine

    and you are done !
