Movies played on PC won't appear on TV?

My IBM T42 laptop has a S-video output. I got a S-video to composite video converter and connected to the TV with Video-in. Once I lowered the resolution on the PC screen, I got the picture on the TV. However, when I played a movie using WM player, only a black square appears on TV. I tried using GOM player with the same result. The online videos like You Tube plays on TV without a problem. Please help me fix this.

I would have to assume it has to do with your refresh rate if you have already adjusted to the resolution to one your TV supports. Adjust your refresh rate to 60 hz. Some TVs require a slight modification to this rate as well. You'll have to look at your TV manual for the rate it supports if the standard 60 hz doesn't work.
