Is there some type of connector cord that will transfer your own DVD's on disc to your iPod? If yes where do I find it and how much is it?

You must make sure the video is mp4 format for iPod. If not, you may try some third party software. Nowadays, there are so many similar not free ipod converteres in the market. You should try your best to choose the best one. I recommend Cucusoft DVD to iPod Video Suite to convert DVD movie and convert videos in any format to iPod. It is the fastest converter I have used. You can download this software free from here
