Alternatives to the pill?

I was taking birth control but because of finacial and medical reason I can't take it any more. Aside from not having sex and using condoms does anyone have any good alternatives that work.

Update:

For medical reasons I am trying to stay away from anything with hormone like the pill , the shot and the patch.

Besides Fertility Awareness Method ((FAM), a natural method of determining whether a woman is fertile or infertile by observing simple body signs and applying a few rules of interpretation.

there is also LEMON that you can use as a contraception method (Professor Robert Short: "what we've found is that lemon juice or lime juice, inactivate sperm like, almost immediately — it just freezes the sperm tail and stops it wriggling so that it can't fertilise the egg")

    These are some non-hormonal methods

    Cervical cap

    Diaphragm

( these two can sometimes have a possibility of not forming a "seal" around the edges - and letting semen pass through. Also can become dislodged with vigorous sex)

    Copper IUD (not Mirena)

(Intrauterine Device - sometimes Dr.'s are reluctant to give these to women who have not yet had a child - due to the fact that their cervix has not been dialated before. They can also expell themselves from your body unknown to you. Cause more painful periods - sometimes longer ones. The strings can sometimes be felt by your male partner. They can increase your chance of STI's. Some cases can perforate the uterus. Or become embedded into it. But they last for up to 10 years and can be removed any time - and you can get pregnant as soon as it is removed. And it is effective as soon as it is implanted.)

Just to clear up - Fertility awareness method is far, far different from the rhythm method, which involves solely planning sexual activity upon presupposed fertile dates based upon the length of the menstrual cycle.

Fertilty awareness involves keeping track of your first morning temp, cervical mucus, length of menstrual cycle, and any other ovulation indicators you may have.

i have the merina iud. it can be inserted in the doctors office. and its good for 5 years. and it will make your periods lighter or not even have one at all. and if you decide to have a baby in can removed easily in the doctors office. i like it because i dont have to worry for 5 years and i dont have a period. and its different because there isn't any hormones in the blood stream its just at the uterus. ive used many othe rform a birth control and this is the best that ive found. merina iud

Just use a dildo. You will never get pregnant unless it is loaded.
