Just curious - I bought a pair at a pet store - but just have one now for four years - and she's great!

i was told by a finch breeder they live for 5 years. a girl i work with said her mother in law had a finch for 12 years and gave it to her, and it lived another 5. i guess it depends on how well you care for them. i have 4 and they are a delight to listen to when they get to chirping.

Ok i breed all Australian finches and life span depends on sindividual species.Ie a gualdian finch is 4-5 years and that is it , where as say a double bar will last for up to 8 years .The thing to do is to become a good breeder and then breed many batches as you can when they are in breeding season so one pair of birds in a years time may be three pairs and so on.Birds may bred father to daughter as well it is a myth that you cant breed brother to mum, for in the wild how do birds know who they are breeding with

My zebra finch Squeak died today he was almost 16. I will miss him. My secret change his water every day. I have good Fl aquifer water. May he RIP.
