What's the best free program to convert music files?

I'm interested in converting wma music files to mp3's and I'd like to do them in batches or all at one time. I have thousands in different formats. Recomendations? Download sites? Thanks!

These were all excellent answers! I actually went to cnet and dl'd the a different one that did the trick. so...how do I pick a winner? I guess just randomly, but thanks to everyone that helped!

    Audacity is is a really good program. its open source and supports Ogg Vorbis, MP3, WMA and WAV sound files. You can not only use it for conversion but you can also use it to edit the audio files

    the best I would have to say would be limewire. Its illegal but it works lol
