i have an edelbrock dual plane intake manifold for a small block chevy, can it go bad?

i would like to know can the intake go bad at any point and what might be the reason. it was on a 305 motor and the car wouldnt stay running. when we took it off and put on another intake it fired right up and ran fine. so i want to know will it work if i put it on another 305 motor. or is the intake in fact bad.

It could have a crack in it or have a warp flange, but that's rare.It should be fine.

Like others said, could be that it got warped either where it seals to block or heads, or maybe on the area where the carb mounts. This could cause a vacuum leak which can cause the car to run rough, or stall out.

To the previous poster, he put another intake on same engine, not the same intake on another engine

Intakes are one of those car parts that almost never goes bad. Since it worked fine on another motor that right there should tell you that motor number one had something else besides a bad intake.

It can't 'Go-Bad' however, if it is cracked or if there are vacuum leaks then you would see a problem. I have a dual Plane Weiand Aluminum intake on my 350 and it has been fine for many yeards. Installed in 1989.

Like what your holiness said if you got it hot and warped it or if it had a bad gasket leak it wouldnt run good cause it would be losing to much vacuum

The intake does no longer carry stress. The port which you left open is a extensive vacuum leak. it is going to pass to the brake booster. a minimum of, plug it and notice if the engine will stir up.

could have gotten too hot and warped...or maybe the gaskets were bad.
