Feels like my heart stops?
Every now and then i get a sensation like my heart stops (for about 3 seconds), with a heavy pressure over my chest. then, it's like it finally 'takes a breath' and beats again.
Is this something to be concerned about?
Also what could be the cause of this?

It's not anything to be concerened about unless it's every single day. These are just heart palpitations. Some people get them, some people don't. I used to get them every now and then too. It's not a good feeling so I know how your feeling. I used to think I was having a heart attack or something. I would break out in a cold sweat while it was happening. Sometimes when your under stress or anxiety then you can get them. Other times they just happen. When they occur just make sure to take a deep breath and breath. That's what I do.

Feeling your heart beating irregularly is a sign that something is going wrong with your heart's electrical conduction. You MUST go to a doctor for an EKG so he can figure out what's going wrong. You may need a pacemaker, or you may just need medication. Either way, go to the doctor!! You cannot treat this yourself!

You can get that sensations for many reasons: some totally benign and some serious. Not to go in medical detail, I suggest your doctor who should order an EKG. You may also need Holter monitoring as the episode may not happen when being examined.

Your heart is probably skipping beats. Mine does it all of the time. It's a hereditary thing with me and I have had it checked by a cardiologist. If you haven't been checked it might make you feel better. I know this sounds gross but he told me that when mine does it, to bear down like I am having a bowel movement and it will usually fix the problem. Hope this helps.

Similar feelings are quite common to me as well. I consulted a Cardiology Centre and after some tests starting with ECG etc., they found nothing wrong with such symptoms.I had narrated exactly what you have written about you.
I suggest , it's better that you consult a Cardiologist and get satisfied after having test(s) if required.

Consult your doctor if it continues. You might be suffering from severe stress or anxiety.

I think it's normal. That happens to me, too. If you're worried, maybe you should talk to your doctor.
