Scrapbook enthusiasts--what is you favorite item, besides...?

Paper and the Cricut machine? I'm looking for a gift for my sister, and I want to know what you think is the very coolest in tools or supplies. Doesn't necessarily have to be what you use the most.

    Okay, here are my favorites:

    *corner rounder

    *GOOD 12" paper trimmer

*Magic Matter-It's a tracing tool and it will make a matte around anything! You get 3 or 4 metal "discs" that you "roll" around your image with a pencil and it draws the perfect matte for you to cut out. It's my favorite item I have (and I have a lot of stuff!!).

With these 3 tools and adhesive, you have all the basics! Best of luck!

EDIT: I almost forgot my 12" Decorative Paper Trimmer from Creative Memories. Great for cutting 2 types of "waves." Here's a link: http://www.creativememories.com/MainMenu/Our-produ...

A good gift could be a gift certificate to shutterfly.com, snapfish.com or the photo website she uses to develop her pictures.

Another good idea is to go to a SB store that has a lot of layouts hanging about or to a website that has a gallery & take a picture of it or save it onto your pc. For example, if you know she likes Disney & has a lot of pics to SB for Disney, find a Disney layout & take a picture of it. Then buy the items to copy the page such as the patterned & cardstock papers, embellishments, etc. Then package it up with a copy of the picture for her to copy. It would then be her own page layout to create from the picture. I have done this in the past for friends & they liked it.

It is hard to get someone a SB gift when they are a big SB'er. They might have all the latest tools, etc. That is why the page kits are nice.

Good luck & wish your sister a Happy Birthday!

First find out what types of supplies your sister already has so you don't buy her a duplicate. My favorite gift for scrapbooking to give and receive is a gift certificate to one of the chain craft stores - i.e. Michael's, JoAnn Fabrics, and Crafts n Stuff. Your sister can get exactly what she wants and can double her dollar amount of her gift by using a 50% off coupon (those retailers all accept each other's coupons.) If you must surprise her get her something returnable. My favorite scrapbooking supplies are tools and methods of altering what you already have to make them new and unique - like heat embossing tool to use to melt embossing powder, so you can also buy embossing powders, pigment powders with binders so you can paint or stamp with them - like Perfect Pearls, rubber stamps, paper cutting tools - paper trimmers, punches, piercers, die cutting machines and dies, chalks, paints, gold leafing, metal embellishments, ribbons, fibers, scrapbooking magazine subscriptions, dry embossing light table, embossing stencils, book binding system - Rollabind, Zutter Bind-it-All. Too many cool things - beads. paints, ribbons, etc, just go down the embellishment aisle and if you know her taste there's tons of great stuff! Have fun!

1)The crocodile that was already mentioned is cool.

2)I know some who like the Xyron design runner - I haven't really used it myself - but personally , I wouldn't get it unless I could afford to get the accessory kit and the disc maker with it. That would be great but a good chunk of change :)

3)The bind-it-all is really cool if your sister likes to handmake mini albums. It allows you to make albums out of just about anything - like license plates for instance! (Dont remember how much they run though)

    4) I also second acrylic stamps. They are great for layering details over cricut cutouts etc. I sell a large selection. You are welcome to contact me via my yahoo i.d. if you are interested.

5)I also sell a great distressing kit, with inks & texture tools & edge distressers, etc. I use it on practically everything. Again, contact me if you are interested.

    Good luck!

Stickers and emelishments add a nice touch, and there are loads of themes to choose from.

If it's for your sister, you could also go through some of your pictures and giver her some of herself, maybe at a special occasion, or from your childhood.

I have very few scrapbook pages of myself since I'm usually the one taking the pictures, and I tend to focus my pages on friends and family, rather than me. It's also nice to see pictures taken from a different vantage point, even if I was taking pics at the same event (like christmas).

I am a total paper addict. (I know you said you didn't want that suggestion, but that's just me!)

I can always use ink for my printer, and I also use a lot of different stencils. Some people are using transparencies now, if you are looking for something "trendy." As far as a gift goes, you could always give her a gift card and take her to shop and to lunch.

I love my We R Memory Keepers Crop-a-dile. It is a tool that can punch holes in just about anything in order to also set eyelets, snaps, etc. It is a very quiet tool and a quick one. If she is currently setting eyelets with the old hammer, she'll love this tool! There are a great variety of eyelets, snaps and extra large eyelets to use with this tool as well.

I have a Bind It All and I love it! I make gift albums for friends and family and can add as many pages as I want and any size I want. They run about $60.
