If you take the money that you would spend on insurance and instead put it in a savings account every month, you wil find that after all is said and done, you will still have money left when the dog is no longer here.
This was the advise of some experts that I have read. Of course, you have to be faithful about putting the money in the bank and you can only take it out for dog expenses.
I don't have insurance on mine, I have 3. I have learned to handle most things by myself. Last year I spent a total of $400 at the vet's. One of mine got an ear infection, a hematoma, and had her teeth cleaned during the surgery. Learn all you can!

my dogs are insured with pet protect
