Can virtual machine technology (for example MS Virtual PC 2004) be used with any operating system? More specifically Win 95, Win 98, Linux, and Mac?

not sure of linux or mac, but it was made by microsoft so it will work only with microsoft windows

Well, MS Virtual PC can only be run on Windows, and can run any OS except Mac (OS it can run includes Linux, Windows 9x, or Windows 3.11). There are other virtualization softwares available, like VMWare or VMWorkstation. I'm not sure about the Mac OS, since it requires some CPU power.
