I think Mitt Romney is a rich egotist who can pay to run for office. Arguments for/against?
This is a legitimate question, and I stated my starting attitude so there aren't any hidden agendas involved. Looking for thoughtful responses!
I have worked in politics for decades, and knew George Romney, who absolutely fit the idea of the "eternal candidate." I have worked for several candidates who likewise meet that description, and at the moment, it sure looks like Mitt is right in the mold.
But there are partisans with knowledge who could not just inform me, but all the readers here, otherwise.
So rather than indulge in personal attacks, answerers, please offer good information we can use.
Unfortunately I think there's little chance of that, because most people reply without reading this text, but heck, there's always hope.
Yep, a couple of "shoot from lip" responses right off. Good third answer. McCain didn't njust put $35 million into his campaign, though, Romney did.
BTW - I am a liberal Democrat, planning to vote for Obama, and this discussion is not intended to alter the dynamics of the Reep primaries. I am just curious what you guys think.
Hey, Joe, "socialist" is something FAR from the ideas propounded by either Democrat. You guys weaned on the teat of libertarianism have a really messed up view of the world. The Democrats are all far from socialist. It's time folk here started getting a clue.

Well it is a matter of sheer fact that he is rich. Egotistical is a matter of opinion. He seems to be the candidate of the 'Economic Wing' of the Republican party. As such, it is no surprise Wall St. loves him and the corporate media is a driving force in his campaign.
He is largely financing his own campaign, this is also a fact. He has changed his positions on abortion and a few other issues. This is also a fact. He himself admits to changing positions on abortion. Whether he did so for political reasons is of course something only he knows.

Who cares? Mitt Romney is the only one of the candidates that seems to understand or care about our about illegal immigration problem. The two bone headed Democratic candidates seem to be against the will of the American people.
A vote for the Democrats is a vote for our enemies all over the world. Romney rows his own boat. He is the man for America.

Mitt is the only one who knows how the economy really works. He an even tempered and very smart guy. He also has the balls to stand up to those who want to hurt us. He is not a real conservative, he's a hybrid, just like McCain. Both are RINO's. Republican in name only, so the Democrats should like him too. Hilary and Obama are socialist and will bring us closer to that political philosophy.

Everyone who runs for president is a rich egotist looking for power. What planet are you from?
At least he has the head knowledge to run a country as proven by his business background.

he's not any different than mccain as far as being rich enough to run for office.
mccain's wife is the budweiser heiress. that makes mccain rich enough too, right?

he gets his super powers from his magic Mormon underwear... steal his drawers, and he'll become a piker like the rest of us.
