Swollen ankles, feet; achy legs?

I have been told that this can be a sign of water retention, and it has happened before with just my ankles, which taking water pills eventually cleared up. However, my feet have never gotten puffy like this before, and both of my legs, especially the left one, are extremely achy as well. Could this still be water retention, and I just didn't catch it as soon as before, and if so, are water pills still a good enough remedy? Been this way for about a week now, and the swelling goes when I'm not so active and relaxing, then returns when I'm more active. Thanks in advance for any advice. ;)

I had swollen legs at the end of pregnancy for like 10 weeks! It was so miserable I was so ready to have my baby. By 38 weeks, I was swollen to the max with high blood pressure so they decided to induce me due to preeclampsia. You are fine, if you had it you would def. have high blood pressure. It is not going to go away until after the baby trust me. Good thing you do not have much longer I know how you feel! It is such a relief after when everything starts to go back down, just drink plenty of water! Good luck to you and congrats!

It could possibly be arthritis or some effect of a medicine you take. See your doc.
