I'm a 34 year old music lover from Birmingham, Alabama. Rock/alternative is my favorite genre, but I love ALL music, and some of my favorite artists include: The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, Metallica, Linkin Park, Green Day, Nirvana, Madonna, Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, Matchbox Twenty, Enigma, and Enya. The 80s hold a special place in my heart as well. All in all, music has always been an important part of my life, and always will be. ;)

  • A question regarding CD burning?

Okay, my CD/DVD drive recognizes DVDs when I insert one, but it does not recognize a blank CD when I am attempting to burn music onto one. Someone told me I may need to update my driver, but being somewhat computer illiterate with regards to those things, anyone who may know how to solve this problem or what site I can go to update, your help is much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

  • Question regarding expired meds?

My mom and I noticed following my grandmother's death that many of her medications ranging from OTCs such as Tylenol, anthistimines, and laxatives to various pain medication prescriptions had long passed their expiration dates, some by several years. We disposed of all of the medications, but since she more than likely continued to take many of them, were curious as to the actual 'shelf life' of OTC and prescription medications. Are they safe? And do they lose their potency or effectiveness over time? She died of natural causes so none of them contributed to her death, we were just curious if something like Tylenol would still be effective several years after it's expiration date. Thank you in advance for your input!

  • Steam table question?

My mom recently opened a restaurant that features a steam table for meats and veggies. She noticed that during the course of lunch one day that her squash casserole was becoming dry quicker than she would have liked. Not being 100% sure of her recipe for the dish, what would you recommend as an ingredient that might prolong the 'life' of squash casserole, or is there something such as water that she may add with time that would prolong it without damaging the quality? Any suggestions are appreciated.

  • leaving state before divorce?

I'm asking this question on behalf of a friend who is separated from her husband. Both currently reside in Alabama, he with his parents, she with a roommate and the children. She wishes to return to her 'home' state of Michigan, along with her children(and not the roommate of course)because that is where her family is, to start her life over. Now, she has no intention of not informing him of this, she just doesn't want to have to wait however long it would take for the divorce process. She also has absolutely no intention of not allowing him to see the children when he wishes, she only wants to return to her 'comfort zone', but doesn't want to be in any trouble for leaving. Now no divorce process has even been started, and I've heard that she is free to leave, as would he also, with the children as long as she informs him of their whereabouts. So is there anyone with legal experience or who has experienced something similar who could give some sound advice on this matter?

  • Trivia for Comedy TV Buffs (10 Points)?

This was inspired by a movie I was watching with my girl's 2 year old just a while ago, and I became curious about the original actors in the television series....so here's a little trivia for all you comedy TV buffs:

Who was the first black actor signed to a major long-term Hollywood contract? He was also the first black Hollywood star. Hint: You gotta go pretty far back on this one.

10 points to the first correct answer.

  • Swollen ankles, feet; achy legs?

I have been told that this can be a sign of water retention, and it has happened before with just my ankles, which taking water pills eventually cleared up. However, my feet have never gotten puffy like this before, and both of my legs, especially the left one, are extremely achy as well. Could this still be water retention, and I just didn't catch it as soon as before, and if so, are water pills still a good enough remedy? Been this way for about a week now, and the swelling goes when I'm not so active and relaxing, then returns when I'm more active. Thanks in advance for any advice. ;)

  • Unemployment compensation and taxes?

My sister received unemployment compensation for about half of the year. She is a also separated but still filing jointly this year as they are not yet divorced, and have 2 children. How does unemployment compensation affect your taxes, and does it disqualify you in any way from the EIC (earned income credit)?

  • Mitral Valve?

Ok, I was told several years ago that I have mitral valve prolapse which accounted for the slight chest pain I was having at the time (I was 24). I cut down on the caffeine and smoking and it seemed to relieve it for the most part, except for the occasional slight pain, which I attributed to the smoking. For the past few months, I have had much sharper periodic pains, which I have thought to be MVP related (I am almost 33 now). The only difference from before is that just to the left of the center of my chest is very sensitive to the touch, and almost sore (not continuously, just for a period of time after the pain), and seems a little more 'stiffer' than the right. My question is, could this be MVP related or something else perhaps? Thank you for any insight.

  • 3-11 Sun Vibration?

I have heard that this particular vibration is a let's say "fated" vibration according to astrology, for example, I have dated 2 Aries in my time and my best friend is a Sagittarius....I'm still good friends with my Aries exes and it seems we probably will always be good friends. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Like there are certain people you are destined to find and form a sort of close bond with for a reason? I'm Aquarius, by the way.

  • Bad muffler? Not sure?

I have a 94 Saturn SC1, and it just started making a weird sound like the muffler was going......only thing is, the sound isn't coming from the back of the car, it's sounds like it's coming from the right front area and once it's warmed up and driven a bit, the sound isn't as loud. I checked to see if there were any holes under the car around the muffler and I couldn't find any, nor did I notice anything loose, but I'm not a mechanic so I could've missed something. Any ideas what it might be?

  • Bad credit/no credit financing?

Besides the local bank, are there any reputable online companies that can help people with bad credit/no credit get a loan for a new or used car? I realize the payments would be somewhat higher than for someone with good credit, but a place that wouldn't necessarily rip me a new one? And ixnay on roadloans.com.
